In one of the final preparations before the main Ethereum blockchain can be converted to proof-of-stake consensus, Ethereum's main public test network will be merged next month. Parithos Jayanthi, who works on devops at the Ethereum Foundation, posted a merge request on GitHub today, which means the code will be implemented. The merger is a long-awaited move by Ethereum to prove that the blockchain has become an equity. Under the blockchain, the current proof-of-work chain will be merged with the new proof-of-stake chain. This is a huge change and has been tested multiple times to check if it works.
