Stablecoin wallet addresses with account balances over $1 million recently surpassed $12 million, up from 4 million a year ago, according to data compiled by CoinMetrics Dollar. The stable currencies counted in the analysis include TetherErc-20 (USDT). TetherTRC-20. Currency Security USD.DAI.GUSD.PAX and USDoin (USDC).
The majority of addresses holding more than $1 million are from TetherTRC-20 (approximately 8 million), followed by TetheRC-20 (approximately 3.4 million) and USDC (approximately 1 million). These addresses have also increased regularly over the past 12 months, apart from a sharp but brief drop last May.
This number still pales in comparison to the number of major digital currency packages holding over $1 million. Priced in Bitcoin (BTC). Ethereum (ETH) or XRPL (BTC). Ethereum (ETH) or XRP Ledger (XRP), according to Coinmetrics. Most notably, the number of millionaire BTC wallet addresses has remained essentially unchanged since May 2021. But the same cannot be said for ETH or XRP.
Limitations of the data include being based on all wallet addresses - which is not the only one - meaning the number of individuals holding these wallet balances is likely well below 12 million. The use of stablecoins has increased dramatically in recent years. They began as a way for investors to cash out during turbulent times and can now be used to interact with various decentralized finance protocols, such as the terrraaanchor protocol.
